bro this video actually saved me when it comes to the player's running speed. I spent upwards of 3 hours BARELY running back and forth to get logs for a house, all because I was wearing a tuxedo. Switched to the PJ's and it made a big difference.
I don't know if you're looking to stay away from it on purpose or not... but, the cheatstick tip certainly makes log gathering a breeze. iirc, the 'loghack on' command gives you infinite placement, and you can also use 'spawnitem log [howmany]' to just have a bunch drop at your feet.
@@XDeej Oh I remember loghack from The Forest, I just think playing Sons Of The Forest vanilla feels better to be honest. I try to avoid using cheats unless it's for looking at upcoming items or NPCs
now my question is, how tf people dont know you, this video is literally one of the best if not the best explication videos in all sons of the forest content, keep it up mate! Hope you get to 1000 followers.
Snow gathers slowly at the start of the avalanche... My team and I will just do our best to make good content and hope the momentum continues to gather. In the meantime, your kind words and support are deeply appreciated, and you can help by spreading the good word to friends. Party on. 😉
I am extremely grateful of such kind and encouraging words. It's a slow process to grow, but sharing and spreading the good word is always a huge help. 😊
Recently I started watching smaller channels like yours who actually give helpful info unlike most bigger channels filled with clickbait bullsh*t, keep up the good work bro, with content like that eventually you'll grow your channel and audience. All the best to you :)
Folks giving smaller creators a chance is the only way the big creators got to where they are in the first place. I appreciate you not only taking the time, but taking the chance. I'll do my best to continue making it worth it. 😉
This is the best SOTF video I’ve seen so far. The multi-looting of creepy armor is something my brother and I figured out on day one and it’s such a good method. I finished the game shortly after launch and just started a new playthrough last week, I love the Knight V but I don’t find the golf cart super useful. It’s good that it’s indestructible but once I got it back to my base I’ve not used it since.
I'm happy to know you found it helpful. Once you've finished mastering the island, be sure to swing back and have some fun with the rest of the content on the channel. 😊
Being underrated is fortunately only a temporary state for most creators. I'll keep working hard to bring fun and value, and you do whatever you can to help spread the good word. 😉
The hope was to provide some informational value, and I'm glad to know I got at least a few good spots tucked away in there. Thank you for the kind words. 😊
Great video - very dense info and great on-screen stats. One point that might not be 100% correct - 2 deaths in single player - I found that as long as I didn't die quickly again (or maybe also in the same area?) I could still get the capture instead, multiple deaths later. I didn't explore the limits but almost certain it's a thing.
Thank you for the kind feedback and additional insights!! It's definitely possible that the death limit is something that has more nuance or variability than I was able to scrape from the testing I've done, but that's just not something I was able to observe myself. Even still... you can always load a previous save, so even getting that "game over" isn't really a true end if you don't want it to be.
I actually think it *might* be health bar related. Grab your bag, drop some meds and heal up on inventory screen. Seems you can get away with more than twice. Can anyone confirm?
It involved a lot of time gathering footage, a lot of scrutiny to refine it, and a lot of research to make sure it wasn't the same ole' tip video that's already out there. It's deeply meaningful and validating to hear that it shows through. 😊
Very helpful video! I am currently playing Sons Of The Forest with my dad and we are struggling to even stay alive. This will surely help us out. Thank you!
I was very much the same way early on, and even in recent attempts, me and my friends will still run into hurdles that provide an amusing death. Hopefully some stuff in this vid will help you stay alive longer, but as long as the two of you are having a good time, it's still time well spent. ;)
@@XDeej Me and my dad are doing much better in the game with 37.3 hours spent playing it. I got this game less than a week ago! I've been following a guide from Rock Paper Shotgun on how to get the items needed to beat the game, and following your tips on the game. (We turned structure damage off in the settings because we were already ripping our hair out trying to figure out how to not die 2 million times!) Thanks for your tips! They have really helped us out.
I try to create content that I would watch too. That said, in keeping those little 'please subscribe' sections up front short, you gotta help ya boi out and make sure to spready the word. 😉

The kind words and encouragement are deeply appreciated. Often times the invisible work that goes into making content is overlooked and underappreciated, and to receive praise for the technical components is a kindness Mindy truly deserves. I'd just be some idiot yelling into a microphone if I didn't have her chopping everything up. 😂
I haven't used exploits in games in quite a long time, but that changes today with you teaching me 'cheatstick'. I can no longer tolerate being forced to use a week's worth of collected pistol ammo on one fucking enemy spawn.
Not to mention all the time you'll save in resource gathering, travel, and overcoming some of the bugs that the game still has. Get all the fun you can, and leave the headaches for something inherently less enjoyable. 😉
I love and appreciate all of the kind words and encouragement, and I'm glad you found it useful. Be sure to share around where you can if you're looking to help support the channel. 😊
I opened this account in October of 2011. 12+ years ago. I only have 29 subscriptions. That's how rarely I find a channel I think is valuable enough to sub to. You're #29 if that happens to mean anything to you. Great video. Great channel. Luck.
That is a guarded exclusivity and care I don't think is very common with subs these days, so I am truly appreciative that I received 'the nod' in this instance. Whether it's gameplay, tips videos, review material, or just something new that I want to try, the level of care and eye towards quality from my team and I is always the top priority. Here's hoping you can find some additional content lying around the channel that you find entertaining as well.
Happy to have you, grateful for the kind words, and optimistic that I'll be able to provide at least _something_ in the way of entertainment in the future. Welcome aboard.
I'm super glad you found it useful! I'm hoping to do another vid at some point once the game has moved a little further along and I can continue to provide a deeper layer of value. 😊
You got my sub today as I learned that you can open and store catfood ahead of time. I have known so many things over the weeks of this game and somehow I missed that.
For as early as it is in the process, there is still a LOT of stuff hidden away that I'm sure I don't know either. I can only imagine the depth this game might have once it hits an official release.
The beach. Three Finger Mutants. I pop two of them off the draw and I raise up to take the leader out. I hear a whistle. Kelvins on the cliff. He says, "Let's even the odds!" He tosses me down a Mossberg pump, I send one through the mutants chest. Game over, bitches.
I always love to hear it's helpful, and I'm always happy to hear it's enjoyed. If you have any specific callouts for what you liked that you feel *isn't* included in most other tip vids, please feel free to share so I can keep it dialed in for the future.
A lot of time, effort, and research got thrown into this one, so I'm glad to know that the result was of some value. I appreciate you taking the time to provide your encouragement and support. 😊
That last tip earned the subscribe. Great video. Also love the idea of using a zip line system across the whole island. Would take a long time to set up, but would be super efficient.
I'm extremely glad it was helpful! Make sure to spread the word, and check out a stream or some of my other content when you have the free time to do so. 😃👍
Such incredibly kind words are deeply appreciated. Consider yourself both encouraged and welcome to spread the good word until I am upgraded to 'accurately rated' status. 😊
@@XDeej oh I do trust me, good content man, thank you brother👌 Should re post with the title “must know facts when jumping into the sons of the forest” something like that, just an idea
I think it's common for tip videos to sorta just power through, but I've been trying to have a little more fun with the content I'm producing of late. Glad to hear it's showing through and is fun to watch. 😊
Did Endnight NEVER EVER saw a mask in real life? Which Sane person will hold a mast in this way ... And why we can't combien them with robe to create a normal veron of this like a normal human sane being would do in this situation.
I'll admit, there are a lot of things to like in this game, but the absolutely awful mask placement certainly isn't one of them. I am very surprised that EndNight wouldn't have the mask function more practically.
Great video - thanks!! With regard to the death limit for single player does it mean that once you reach the limit ie die twice, you lose everything and have to start from the beginning? Also if you have two or even 3 saves on the go - can you revert back to another save? Is that why I see people with more than one save?
Once you die you're prompted to select a load file, or start over. So, my wording was probably poor in that if you die, you simply go back to the last time you saved... however long ago that might have been. Sorry if I didn't explain it clearly enough in the tip sections itself.
Running up and using slugs up close is _technically_ less effective, but with how powerful the shotgun is right now, I don't know that the ammunition even matters all that much against most enemies. But, hey... at the end of the day, if whatever you're doing works, then there's nothing to worry about, amirite?
Just started playing with my buddy, I was hoping you could cut logs down to firewood size and stack them in a pile. So happy you can, definitely learned a lot I didn't know being such a new player, so enjoy your sub sandwich. I'm gonna be on the lookout for turtle eggs now lol
An exciting and welcome notion to be sure. I'm happy to set my sights on a more nearsighted goal, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that 100k becomes an attainable marker at some point in the near future! 😊
If you have any awesome tips or obscure secrets that I haven't included here, Please make sure to leave additional insights in the comments... OR feel free to ask questions or suggest things I should investigate for my next tips video after the game gets updated further!
I'm not sure what you mean by 'play stats' but I don't use any loaded mods, and all of the info in the video was gathered using the cheatstick dev menu.
@@keveryotrl4253 I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working for you, but I can at least offer assurance that it is that simple. Maybe you have a keybind that's interfering? If you *DO* get it working, you should be able to pull up player stats pretty easy. Most of the stat capture huds can be isolated by searching "UI" in the debug menu. Just make sure to toggle whatever menu you want to use by following it with an "on" or an "off" Not sure what issues you're facing... but I hope this helps.
Good vid lots of useful tips really helpful but not using cheatstick i play it as is .got a save in normal mode and a save in hard survival one is for fun and one as a challenge works for me keep up the good content fella
Fun fact: This works only if you have a base at the Mountain, next to a deep river, deep pond or the ocean. If you put 2-4 logs facing upwards without chopping their ends into a spike and putting on side against the deep pond, deep river, ocean or hill, the enemies will detect that as a way to quote on quote "Get in your base." When they try to "Get in your base." they only end up to their demise falling or drowning. Fun Fact2: The best food (soup) early on is gregs soup, as the only requirements is a dead cannibal, water, cooking pot and a fire, it offers quite a few buffs, restores some of your hunger being a decent saturation food, restoring your thirst being a great way to hydrate and restores half of your health. (Another requirement would be you needing to know how to fight properly).
Considering how choppy the aiming mechanics can be from time to time I definitely would have hoped for a little more of a boost, but, I did WAY more testing with this than I'd care to go through again, and disappointing as it is, I'm afraid so.
Haven't done a lot of testing in 1.0 as of yet, but it feels like it would be a super strange thing for them to remove since propping logs has building applications outside of the trap itself. I'll make sure to double check when I get around to a tips 3.0 vid.
It's not really about base building entirely, but there's a few pointers within that relate to base defense sprinkled throughout. Hopefully there's something of value there. ruclips.net/video/uvfG_JBmQ2s/видео.html
Only just bought this game, it's a LOT of fun (OMG, they killed Kelvin!). Love the spring trap idea and I'm 100% lighting caves up from now on. Cheers dude.

I've got SotF updated, but it's just such a big undertaking to do these kinds of videos (or at least do them well), so it'll likely be a short bit. That said, I'm def open to looking into it in the near future.
I practice to go for the unprotected areas. If the enemy has no leg armor, you can put arrow or bolt in his leg and disable him, or if you are using axe or katana then crouch and hit the legs.
I'm so glad you think so! These always take a TON of time when it comes to testing, footage gathering, and script writing, so it's always great to hear when it proves effective and helpful!
How do you see all the detailed stats.. like comfort and stealth in percentage or the mob health? Is it a mod and if it is which one? Btw amazing content, thanks!

It's still in early release and tends to chug from time to time. I also capture at 30f sometimes to compensate if it's an area where it struggles. Depends on the situation, but I appreciate you seeing the value underneath it regardless.
Actually, with the official 'full' release around the corner, I was gonna do a revisit and make a final version as a third installment, I just didn't want to do it in advance of the full release and have half of the info be wrong once the game finally releases officially.
Solafied catana is very good. Also you can wound most enemies by hitting them in the leg with a bow/crossbow or a pistol and then finish them with an axe or catana.
Didn't beat it, but played a little bit of it. I actually have a bit of a unique experience in that regard because I didn't know that the first game existed until AFTER having gotten into sons of the forest, so it was really strange to take a step backwards in time but also a step forwards in terms of polish and completion. Since I played SotF in its early access phase, it's easy to say that the original had more to offer in a lot of regards, but I definitely preferred the mechanics and approach they took in the sequel more. The original definitely got a lot of nice refinements added that its predecessor is still missing, but thus far, I think the dev team has done a good job of providing consistent updates that lead me to think that it's entirely likely if not inevitable that the SotF will also share that same refinement in due time. Ultimately, SotF feels a LOT like the same game, but with a bunch of tweaks and upgrades that I would have a hard time looking past if I had to go back to playing the original after having gotten used to them in the sequel.
I play with folks on stream all the time, and I'm always looking for good folks to join in. Feel free to swing through if I'm on SotF and maybe even get it on the big race when it happens. 😉
It's been at least a *little* up and down of late due to my RUclips projects I've been working towards getting out, but generally it's ever Mon, Tues, and Fri at 6:30 CST. 👍✌
It is indeed. I'm super happy to be able to spread an absolutely stellar track from an artist we lost far too soon. Link to the full song in the description. 😉
@@XDeej no joke the ending to this video sent me back years to playing call of duty with friends I don’t even know anymore rip king thank you for bringing back those memories
Very recently downloaded the 1.0 update and I was considering it. The only catch is that they take a LOT of time and effort to do (if doing it well and preventing it from being nothing more than a clickbait release), and I'm sorta waiting to see if more folks would be interested. Time is just super tight and I gotta budget it based on what I think peeps are gonna be after. Definitely down to do it though.
I actually finished this vid like... ONE update before the golf cart got added in. Definitely would have loved to tool around in that for a bit to see what I could get into. Even still, that's a good tip to keep in mind for a follow up now that the official release is around the corner.
Unfortunately this video may have grown out of date over time as developers make changes and upgrades to the system. I'd be disappointed if they did in fact take this out, but I suppose it's not that surprising since a few other things have changed since I created this. Sorry if it led you astray.
I've been diving back into SotF again as part of a different video lately and I'm already seeing a few things that I can add or tweak if I do another tip video again. Here's hoping that the rest of it holds up for a little bit.
It's just such a HUGE game, and with new stuff coming out all the time, it's been tough to dive back into. That said, I have a SUPER dope idea for a video that I'm still hoping to do for SotF at some point. Just you wait. 😉
There definitely is less stuff, BUT... I think they've been VERY good about continuing to add stuff in and refine the overall experience to the point where I actually have a high degree of confidence that their new iteration will catch up in time while also providing a new and fresh experience. It's obviously hard to say for sure, but at the end of the day, they've been doing enough work that I'm inclined to think that there's a lot to still be excited about for the future.
If you didn't find what you were looking for here... or feel like some of it didn't cover what you were looking for, feel free to check out my previous tips video to see if that can give you a leg up as well.

Glad to know there was plenty of value in there then! Cheers mate!

Very good job, sir. Keep up the good content!
I very much appreciate the kind words!
Feel free to share if you know anyone else who would benefit from it! 😄
Also know that holding your GPS out on the knight V, your GPS is always centered where you are driving
I haven't checked that out, but that's a good inclusion if it keeps you centered!
That last tip earned the subscribe. Great video. Also love the idea of using a zip line system across the whole island. Would take a long time to set up, but would be super efficient.
Got another one at the buzzer!!! Good lookin' out!
What a brilliant informative video thank you.
I'm extremely glad it was helpful! Make sure to spread the word, and check out a stream or some of my other content when you have the free time to do so. 😃👍
Thanks for the video, I didn’t even know about the log and stick trap, or building in caves.
Underrated RUclipsr for real
Such incredibly kind words are deeply appreciated. Consider yourself both encouraged and welcome to spread the good word until I am upgraded to 'accurately rated' status. 😊
Subscribed, and liked, good stuff 👍
A hugely appreciated kindness!
Don't forget to throw it out there for anyone you know who might find it helpful.
@@XDeej oh I do trust me, good content man, thank you brother👌
Should re post with the title “must know facts when jumping into the sons of the forest” something like that, just an idea
this video had me dying laughing! awesome video man!
I think it's common for tip videos to sorta just power through, but I've been trying to have a little more fun with the content I'm producing of late. Glad to hear it's showing through and is fun to watch. 😊
This guy needs more subs he is amazing
Such kind words lift the heart. I appreciate the compliment and encourage you to help spread the word where you can. 😉
I agree. Hopefully corrections will come in due time.
Sorry if I didn't explain it clearly enough in the tip sections itself.
thanks for the deadfall trap idea, I'm going to expand that like the trap they used in See S1e1
9:23 I usually just run up to them with slug and shot them in the head
Running up and using slugs up close is _technically_ less effective, but with how powerful the shotgun is right now, I don't know that the ammunition even matters all that much against most enemies. But, hey... at the end of the day, if whatever you're doing works, then there's nothing to worry about, amirite?
Thank man didn't know there was dead fall traps. subscribe especially for that as no one I have seen has mentioned this
It's a super weird (and kinda) dumb idea to throw around your base... but if it works... it works lol.
Glad you found something helpful in it. 😊
Just started playing with my buddy, I was hoping you could cut logs down to firewood size and stack them in a pile. So happy you can, definitely learned a lot I didn't know being such a new player, so enjoy your sub sandwich. I'm gonna be on the lookout for turtle eggs now lol
Good tips, I'm gonna subscribe.
Much love and thank you for the kind words!
Lets get these subs to 100k
An exciting and welcome notion to be sure. I'm happy to set my sights on a more nearsighted goal, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that 100k becomes an attainable marker at some point in the near future! 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
If you have any awesome tips or obscure secrets that I haven't included here, Please make sure to leave additional insights in the comments... OR feel free to ask questions or suggest things I should investigate for my next tips video after the game gets updated further!
how do you open the play stats thing/ what mod do you use to open it?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'play stats' but I don't use any loaded mods, and all of the info in the video was gathered using the cheatstick dev menu.
also when i type cheatstick ingame and i press f1 nothing happens@@XDeej (i spelt player wrong)
Just make sure to toggle whatever menu you want to use by following it with an "on" or an "off"
Not sure what issues you're facing... but I hope this helps.
i realized that i needed to have my keyboard thingy in US to make it work@@XDeej

Good vid lots of useful tips really helpful but not using cheatstick i play it as is .got a save in normal mode and a save in hard survival one is for fun and one as a challenge works for me keep up the good content fella
If you're playing the game in a way that you enjoy that doesn't ruin it for anyone else... then you're playing it the right way. Cheatstick or not. 😉
@@XDeej I agree. sry i was not saying cheatstick is bad just saying i have not used it .oh and cool you replied to my post thnx
(Another requirement would be you needing to know how to fight properly).
there's only a 10% damage boost to headshots with arrows? wtf?
Considering how choppy the aiming mechanics can be from time to time I definitely would have hoped for a little more of a boost, but, I did WAY more testing with this than I'd care to go through again, and disappointing as it is, I'm afraid so.
Great vid!
Thanks! I forced my editor to work really hard on it. Super proud of that.
Are log traps gone? I don't see the option to lift a end of log with a stick. Thx
Haven't done a lot of testing in 1.0 as of yet, but it feels like it would be a super strange thing for them to remove since propping logs has building applications outside of the trap itself. I'll make sure to double check when I get around to a tips 3.0 vid.
How do you get the digital hunger water and all that
It's an option you can enable using the cheatstick command through the dev console.
You mentioned your base defense video. I don't see it. Can you link? Thx!
Soooooo Tip 23 at 12:06 ....you're telling me I can have my beach house AND be safe?? 😳
AND I CAN MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL WITH TIP 25?? There are a few tips in this video that will make my continual efforts to make every game the Sims so much easier lol
If you're looking for a casual experience... AND an audience... I got you covered lol
You can set up a quad spring trap, hotkey your glider, launch, equip the glider in mid-air and get some serious verticality
i subscribed. this video is a little outdated but i think you should make a new one for the 1.0 release. i learned alot, ur the man.
I've got SotF updated, but it's just such a big undertaking to do these kinds of videos (or at least do them well), so it'll likely be a short bit. That said, I'm def open to looking into it in the near future.
Great video
I practice to go for the unprotected areas. If the enemy has no leg armor, you can put arrow or bolt in his leg and disable him, or if you are using axe or katana then crouch and hit the legs.
That kind of accuracy is definitely tough to achieve consistently, but if you can manage it... It's definitely an extremely effective strategy.
perfect tip video
I'm so glad you think so!
These always take a TON of time when it comes to testing, footage gathering, and script writing, so it's always great to hear when it proves effective and helpful!
@@XDeej And I actually used your time stamps not to skip but to rewatch some parts. And I'm not afraid of skipping at all.
Keep it up!
Glad to know they're helpful!
How do you see all the detailed stats.. like comfort and stealth in percentage or the mob health? Is it a mod and if it is which one? Btw amazing content, thanks!
Tools outlined at the end of the video.
How often do you get tip videos that are fun, entertaining, and unique? Probably never.
I aimed for all 3, and I'm glad to know that it translated well. Thank you.

I like your channel. Subbed
Much appreciated! Thank you for the kind words and the sub!
Good video, that framerate tho..
It's still in early release and tends to chug from time to time. I also capture at 30f sometimes to compensate if it's an area where it struggles. Depends on the situation, but I appreciate you seeing the value underneath it regardless.
@@XDeej yeah i have hitching happen every now and again. But its been getting a lot better with each update!
My zipline net is basically transport from base (beach spawn) to the mountain and then just glide wherever i wanna go.
7 months ago, the game was updated 489,657 times by now. Need a updated version for Febuary 2843
How would you compare Sons of The Forest, to The Forest? Did "The Forest" ever actually get finished? Did you play and beat it?
This dude sounds almost exactly like Neal Brennan lol kinda looks like him too
*[Googles Neal Brennan]*
I'll take it... 😂
Dose anyone know if this game is coming to ps4???
I certainly couldn't say for sure, but if their last approach to the forest is any indication, I wouldn't expect to see it on consoles unfortunately.
Also looking for good folks to join up for some multi-player as I've gotten bored with solos and all my friends are console players
I play with folks on stream all the time, and I'm always looking for good folks to join in. Feel free to swing through if I'm on SotF and maybe even get it on the big race when it happens. 😉
@Deej Storer when do you stream?
It's been at least a *little* up and down of late due to my RUclips projects I've been working towards getting out, but generally it's ever Mon, Tues, and Fri at 6:30 CST. 👍✌
Got my sub. Good video
Much appreciated. Spread the word where you can. 😊
Hey man. It's the best video about this game. Thank you a lot and greetings from Ukraine.

@@XDeej yes but where do I find where I have to type it in

It is indeed.
I'm super happy to be able to spread an absolutely stellar track from an artist we lost far too soon.
Link to the full song in the description. 😉
@@XDeej no joke the ending to this video sent me back years to playing call of duty with friends I don’t even know anymore rip king thank you for bringing back those memories
I'll spread good energy wherever I can find it. 😉
very good vid. you could use a little bit less brightness for ur cam
Thanks for the tip
You should remake this video for the release that was released already
Very recently downloaded the 1.0 update and I was considering it. The only catch is that they take a LOT of time and effort to do (if doing it well and preventing it from being nothing more than a clickbait release), and I'm sorta waiting to see if more folks would be interested. Time is just super tight and I gotta budget it based on what I think peeps are gonna be after.
Definitely down to do it though.
The best weapon in the game is a golf cart
I actually finished this vid like... ONE update before the golf cart got added in. Definitely would have loved to tool around in that for a bit to see what I could get into. Even still, that's a good tip to keep in mind for a follow up now that the official release is around the corner.
Cross bows are GOAT
15:46 this doesn't work :(
Unfortunately this video may have grown out of date over time as developers make changes and upgrades to the system. I'd be disappointed if they did in fact take this out, but I suppose it's not that surprising since a few other things have changed since I created this. Sorry if it led you astray.
Does anyone here know where I should type in cheatstick?
Update since this video makes one tip invalid. Solar panels now have limits. Everything else so far is valid until new updates.
I've been diving back into SotF again as part of a different video lately and I'm already seeing a few things that I can add or tweak if I do another tip video again. Here's hoping that the rest of it holds up for a little bit.
@XDeej they just droped an update yesterday with loads of new stuff lile actions for Kelvin and new blueprints.
It's just such a HUGE game, and with new stuff coming out all the time, it's been tough to dive back into. That said, I have a SUPER dope idea for a video that I'm still hoping to do for SotF at some point. Just you wait. 😉
i got 600hrs in The forest
sons of the forest is new world for me but i thinkt there is less stuff then in forest 1
